“Navigating the Intersectionality of Race, Culture and Adoption: Lessons on Microaggressions, Identity and Reculturation”

Trainer: Amanda L. Baden, Ph.D.

It’s a small world, a small state, but no small matter . . .

Join us in National Adoption Awareness Month as the CT adoption community comes together to build bridges of understanding, respect and support for all members of the adoption triad across the lifespan.

Social workers, clinicians, mentors, court staff, adoptive, foster and kinship parents, and adult adoptees are invited to this all-day training with nationally-recognized adoption expert, Dr. Amanda Baden. This workshop will have attendees examine the complex intersection of race, culture and adoption in the lives of adoptive families, learn about the Cultural-Racial Identity Model and develop effective advocacy strategies in dealing with racial and adoption microaggressions.

Approval for CEC’s (including the 1 hour requirement per license year on cultural competence) from the CT NASW Chapter is pending. Registration fee will include CEC’s and a buffet lunch. Please contact info@ctadopt.org with any questions.

Conference Co-Sponsor: UConn Health Adoption Assistance Program
